Create Your Own Ideal.

Create Your Own Ideal.

Sometimes, a place, a culture or a way can really frustrate us.

Sometimes, something could upset us so deeply, we can recognize that we don’t like the person we’re becoming because we are frustrated every day.

Do we even recognize ourselves anymore? That’s when we need to get out and do something.

It is this kind of awareness that could lead us to stop, look, listen and make a change.

There comes a point where we see a situation and we have to decide whether to live with it, leave it or change it.

The first option is the easiest, and the last one is the hardest.

But an option that is rarely discussed or considered is to Create Your Own Ideal.

Rechelle Balanzat, Founder of Juliette Laundry

Last year, I was frustrated about sitting in traffic, about wasted time, about apathy and about the status quo.

I also could not find an event worth the personal investment — to take time, energy and resources aside for an experience worth having, taking a part in and contributing to. One that celebrated you, valued you and listened to you – whether you’re a speaker or an attendee, every one is equal.

So we set aside our own time, energy and resources (in whatever form we may have them), to try and and Create An Ideal — event, atmosphere, community or mindset.

I wanted to help speak of the Bayanihan Spirit and help dispel the opposite mentality I don’t even want to utter. Today, #PHtimeIsNow is a space and a place where people contribute, people fly in and people find value in what they can give on their own, not in what they can take away.  Because if each one contributes what they can, then every one will have a true take away in a way that applies to each of them.

Here are two other examples of Filipino Americans who took their frustrations into their own hands, and created a positive change.
